			As a gesture of good faith, SPQM made an outpost as close as they could to the siege, building a tunnel from it to the battlefield. This proved pivotal to the battle, as without it, there would be no way for the defenders to get to Exodus Rock.

== Siege of Crete ==

The Siege of Crete, also known as the Battle of Exodus Rock, was a battle best defined as unneeded, yet essential. It began as a siege on a 4 chunk outpost in the Aegean sea, claimed as a joke and dubbed "Exodus Rock" from an internal gag in the island of [[Crete]]. Yet this outpost would start one of the bloodiest battles in the history of the [[Eastern Roman Empire]].

This battle marked the first time the Eastern Roman Empire directly faced Turkey in combat. The Eastern Roman Empire had previously resorted to a strategy of simply letting Turkey siege their inactive towns and then paying off the siege costs, but this time, it was different. Crete was a major culture centre, and it could not be given up without a fight.

What didn't help the Cretans though, was the fact that the mayorship of [[Crete]] had recently been transferred from [[MattIsOff]], the now Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire to [[Puntaro]], who was coincidentally out of town, and thus unable to set up any facilities, such as ganks, leaving the defenders at a massive disadvantage.

== Early stages ==

In the first sieges, Crete was able rally their immediate allies - [[German Confederation]] and [[Australia]], mildly offsetting the attackers, leaving the score under +10000. By the 4th stage though, the full force of Turkey had been rallied, and they were gaining thousands of points every session

The [[Eastern Roman Empire]] had been in discussions with an alliance with [[SPQM]], and this battle came to be the point which would decide their stance. With the help of SPQM and its allies, Sicily and Spain, the attackers were pushed back and the trajectory of the battle was looking heavily in favour of the defenders.

== Spawnkilling incident ==

At some point, a defender had accidentally set their spawn inside the Turkish gank, thus leading to a repetitive occurance of spawnkilling. Due to this, these points were neutralized and Turkey received a 5000 point penalty.

== Final session ==

The final battle session was so even on both sides, that the final score from the aggregate for it was -20 points, making the defenders at Crete victorious, with a final score of -5020 points, a mere 20 points from being a stalemate, proving that every kill, and every player on a banner in Siegewar counts.

== Aftermath ==

After the battle, the Eastern Roman Empire, grateful for the help from SPQM and it's allies, establish a mutual defense pact, promising to support SPQM in any of it's conflicts, same as it did them in the Battle of Exodus Rock.
