Schleswig, officially the County of Schleswig, is a feudal county nestled between the Danish State and the German Confederation. The county is known for its simple yet quaint architecture and the area's abundance of natural flora.
Establishment and the Schleswig Question
Schleswig was established on June 20th, 2025 by 84841 following his departure from the town of Metz. Shortly after its creation, 84841 became the first self-declared Count of Schleswig as the head of the nascent House von Schleswig. The area was chosen for its coastline, abundant supply of wood, and nearby flat and arable terrain.
Later in the day, a petition for the incorporation of Schleswig into the neighboring German Confederation was initiated. After an hour and a half of discussions and 84841's refusal to relocate from the area in order to comply with the German government's plans, the petition was ultimately rejected.
The petition's rejection marked the beginning of the county's uncertain position which became known as the Schleswig Question, where the county continues to seek membership within the German Confederation despite the latter's position against it.
On June 22nd, Schleswig was accepted into the German Confederation before immediately being expelled from it.
On June 27th, the Schleswig Question was resolved following the passing of a bill in the German Reichstag which saw Schleswig re-accepted into the Confederation.
Famine Period
On June 21st, the world saw the beginning of an event known as the Global Famine. Despite much of the world coming to a grinding halt, Schleswig remained relatively unaffected due to its small agricultural sector and plentiful stockpile of food. Upon the famine's conclusion two days later, agricultural expansion in the county resumed.
SAGE-19 Pandemic
On June 23rd, a virus later classified as SAGE-19 originated to Schleswig's northeast in the neighboring Danish State. Following the virus's spread and the resulting pandemic, Schleswig's rate of development experienced a sharp decline as social isolation increased.
